Newtown Castle




On the north end of The Burren in County Clare, Ireland within sight of Ballyvaghan lies Newtown Castle just off N67 near the intersection of the R480. This restored castle tower is part of the Burren School of Art.  The top of the castle provided good views of the countryside.  Unfortunatley, there's no interpretive tourist information about the castle, which seemed surprising.  
When I visited, a professor from the US who was spending the summer on a grant to study sound patterns was running some experiements in the castle.  We had a long chat.  I wish school had been in session.
